5 Ballarat Kitchen Styles you must see.

2017 Houzz Winner

#1 Contemporary Ballarat Kitchens.

A contemporary kitchen is simply a design that encapsulates whatever is the current trend. These Ballarat Kitchens all have clean lines and slick styling. White glossy kitchens have been very much in fashion with matching white benchtops. The subway brick tile has been very popular and different coloured grout is used to give them a modern twist. Always popular in the contemporary kitchen is the glass splashback, the paint colour of your choice is applied to the back of the glass before it is installed into the kitchen.  A lot of contemporary kitchens have no handles. There are many ways to achieve this look some being better than others. The example in this Ballarat Kitchen shows the use of an aluminium extrusion to create the finger well required to open the drawers and doors.

#2 Colourful Modern Country Ballarat Kitchens.

It is lovely to see a country style kitchen vamped up with colour to give a colourful modern look as seen in these Ballarat Kitchen designs. They have the shaker door of the traditional country kitchen and even elements of traditional timber but melded together with colour they present a very different look.

#3 Shaker door in Hampton and French Provincial Style Ballarat Kitchens.

From the beautifully decorative look of this French Provincial Ballarat Kitchen to the pared back look of this Hamptons Style Ballarat Kitchen the look is timeless and elegant. This endeavours to be one of the most popular styles of kitchen cabinetry requested in Ballarat and surrounds.

#4 Industrial Vibe to Modern Country Ballarat Kitchens.

With the use of edgy materials and colour these Ballarat kitchens take their look to that of an eclectic and Industrial vibe. Traditional elements such as the Butler’s sink have been used with the addition of a black tap to give it a twist. Open shelves combined with colourful subway tiles to give an interesting detail to the kitchen design. Mesh inserts into doors to give a nod to the past and the meat safes that were common in past Australian kitchens. Cast iron handles on a traditional white shaker door to give a more Industrial feel to the kitchen.

#5 Traditional Timber Ballarat Kitchens.

Timber is still very popular in todays kitchens. Whether it is used as drawer and door fronts or as a benchtop. Bamboo has seen a rise in popularity recently. Blackwood and Tasmanian Oak are probably the most common timber species for doors and benchtops though. As you can see when timber is combined with a bit of colour the kitchen really pops!

Here are just a few reasons why.

#1 Get a great design.

It is so important that your design fulfils as many of your needs as possible. A great design will do this. If you rely upon a joiner or salesperson to design your kitchen there is a chance that you will get the same floorplan that you have. They are likely not to put as much thought and time into your design, keeping it quick and easy for them to quote and manufacture.

I take the time to work with you to achieve the best layout we can. Investing in a new kitchen should be rewarding and fun. A kitchen can help sell your home or keep you happy in it for many years to come.

#2 Get comparable quotes.

It can be a nightmare trudging from one cabinet maker to the next and trying to get quotes for your new kitchen. Each joiner will have their preferred suppliers for doors, benches and hardware making it almost impossible to compare your quotes. They will all probably have slightly different ideas for layout to confuse things more.

I am able to fully specify your kitchen finishes and hardware so there is no room for confusion and will enable you to get comparable quotes.

#3 Understand the Jargon and get the best selections for you.

There are so many different types of drawer systems, hinges and hardware it can be confusing to know what you are actually getting. There are a plethora of materials available for doors and bench tops too. The names and types of which can put even the sanest persons head into a tail spin.

I will explain al of this to you and show you examples of the things that are selected for your design, taking the stress and confusion away.

#4 Get a design that meets your budget requirements.

We all have a budget, whether yours is modest or not it is important that it is considered when materials and hardware are selected.

I will always keep this in mind and achieve the best design layout possible within your budget. I will be able to guide you towards materials that will achieve the look you are after within your budget too. So much time can be saved by working to a realistic budget and will ultimately keep you on track to achieving your dream kitchen.

#5 Get help understanding your quotes and make an informed choice of Cabinet Maker.

When your quotes finally arrive it can be exciting and daunting. If you have not employed the services of a service such as Pauline Ribbans Design then you will be faced with quite a challenge deciphering just what you have been quoted for. Do you have softclose drawers and if so, are they good quality or just a cheap add on softclose components? How would you know? Do you have 20mm stone tops mitred to 40mm or a cheaper 7mm veneer of stone? There are so many pit falls awaiting the unsuspecting renovator. Have you seen detailed plans and 3D images of the design so you know it is what you are after?

Pauline Ribbans Design will have provided fully detailed and specified plans, elevations and 3D images. This means you know what you are getting and the cabinet maker knows what to quote. You will get comparable quotes. I can help you make an informed decision as to which cabinet maker will best suit your needs.

Black Kitchen in Ballarat

Black kitchen with timber benches for a Ballarat renovation.

This beautiful renovation in Ballarat took considerable time to come to fruition. I worked closely with my clients to make sure nothing was overlooked. We considered not just the look but, the functionality of this kitchen in detail.

Polytec Oberon vinyl doors were used in the Tempest woodgrain finish. Some of the doors have a mesh insert that was powder coated to match the black vinyl. The benches have been selected from the Duropal Quadra range of laminate bench tops in Pale Lancelot Oak. A knob and cup pull have been used for the handles from the Furnware Dorset antique range.

Storage systems and hardware used in this Ballarat kitchen renovation.

The wire corner system is my favourite way to improve access into corner cabinets.

An appliance cabinet is a great way to hide away the appliances you don’t want on display. A roller door can also be used effectively to do this too.

The Blum range of hardware is exceptional in quality and variety. Blum Tandembox Antaro drawer runners have been used throughout this kitchen. The bottle set is one of the clever storage systems that Blum has available for its drawer range.

We all love a butlers sink, but they create really hard to get to spaces below them. By putting drawers below the sink storage and access are vastly improved.

My clients were thrilled with their new kitchen and clever design and careful planning will ensure that pleasure will remain.

People employ an architect to design a building because they have the structural knowledge; they employ an interior designer to consult on colour schemes and décor and they should employ a qualified designer to help them with kitchens, pantries, bathrooms, laundries, wardrobes and other cabinetry design.

I am currently constructing my website and getting things up and running, but should you wish to contact me about your project you can do so at
