Laundry
A laundry is a hard working room where good design can make even the smallest space function well.
There are many factors to consider when designing a laundry. How many people live in the home? How do you like to sort and distribute the clean clothes? Do you iron? Do you need a drying cabinet or tall storage? The list is extensive for one of the smaller rooms in a house. There is a growing trend towards not having a dedicated room for the laundry but a cupboard that can be concealed when not in use. This limits the available space for the and requires even more careful design and planning.
Pull out or tilt laundry hampers are a great way to hide the dirty clothes waiting to be washed or clean clothes waiting to be ironed.
Drying cabinets are increasingly popular and can save on energy costs by utilising the homes existing heating system.
Good storage for brooms and vacuums is vital to consider in the design. As is a cabinet for linen storage. I am seeing a trend towards dedicated walk in storage rooms in larger homes. These make accessing items in storage so easy!
